Damp, Musty Odors in the basement or crawl space?

Basement moisture caused mold to grow on these shoes.

Mold and mildew causes this damp, musty smell. These are musty smelling fungi that thrive in moist conditions. Keeping humidity down reduces the chance for mold to grow. In general, mold will not grow at less than 50% relative humidity! Dehumidification is the key, even after you've installed a basement waterproofing system. Of course, any groundwater, plumbing or other leaks should be fixed, as part of a strategy to eliminate mold.

Allergens in the Home

Condensation forms on heating ducts because of the temperature difference

Mold spores will certainly irritate someone with allergies. The number one allergen however, is the fecal matter of dust mites. Dust mites don’t drink water, but absorb it out of the air through their skin. In order to live, dust mites need relative humidity over 50%. Reducing the relative humidity below 50% will cause dust mites to die off.

The SaniDry Basement Air System is a powerful and effective dehumidifier – air filtration system built into a single unit. No need for two different machines. The SaniDry attacks mold and allergens two different ways.

First it rings the moisture out of the air with its powerful dehumidification system. In the humid months most typical dehumidifiers will run continuously because they lack the power and air circulation capacity to dry more than a 300 sq ft area. The SaniDry has 10 times the cold surface area of an average dehumidifier and a very unique heat exchanger core. This makes it ultra efficient! It has a powerful blower to circulate the air in the entire basement. If you don’t move the air you can’t dry the air. It has the capacity of drying up a 3,000 sq ft area, and can remove 12.5 gallons of water from the air daily while using the same energy 6.8 amps as a typical dehumidifier. It will dry the air an automatically and drain the water out of a hose, so you never have to empty it.

SaniDry Circulates and Purifies the AirSecondly as the air is circulated through the unit it passes through a two stage filter system. A pre-filter for large dust particles can be rinsed clean as needed, and a second, easy to replace, slide-in filter (yellow), that takes out particles as small as two microns. There are also charcoal filters available for odor removal.

Keep your basement dry fresh and comfortable with a SaniDry Basement Air System.
